***Περιγραφή - Description: C'est la Vie, C'est la Grèce

DEH, the power company of Geece, consistent with the all permeating philosophy of the Greeks regarding social responsibility, has been turning the switch off as it pleases. No concern for the public welfare. People have died, lung patients are gasping for life, thousand have been trapped in elevators, foods are rotting in the refrigerators. C'est la Vie, C'est la Grèce.

I hailed a taxi in Kiffsia, a wealthy suburb north of Athens, yes it was empty and had its flag on, no, no response. Tons of garbage everywhere, and smoke, smoke from the traffic, made me dizzy.
There must be something wrong with you, why, taxis do not want business from you. Look at yourself in the mirror. No. The old lady living next door stood in the rain for half an hour last week, when she was lucky and a taxi stopped, no, wrong, they never stop, they only slow down, you have to chase them and yell your destination, Glyfada, Pirea, louder, louder, and faster, they train you to do so. A taxi driver does not ask, does not respond yes or no, does not nod. He does not help ypu with your baggage. Your job. I eventually gave up and decided to get the bus. Ekso! Ekso! the driver said as I offered a few euros for my fare. Ekso means out, that is what you say to the unfortunate dogs that were born on this land, out you filthy dog, ekso. The driver was laconic and impressively serious. The other passengers explained to me that you must buy your ticket at a kiosk, a roadside edifice that sells cigarettes, chocolate, and condoms and a lot of other things. Where? Well find one, and find one that sells bus tickets, not all of the sell them.

Do not be discouraged. come to Greece. Best tavernas, best wine, especially the ones in colorfull paper barrels in the supermarkets. Get the phone of the fire department. your gut might be on fire during the night, and make sure you have the best mouthwash, your mouth will taste like, sh..., quiet!
There are positive things too, cmon (sic)... Believe me, best, natural food and wine for gods are here. Not in Athens. Then Greeks are warm, hospitable people. To be continued.
